Perception is the way that we interpret what we experience. This is directly tied into our belief system. It may as well be one in the same.
Our beliefs tell us what is “true” (I have quotations around true because our truth is tainted or influenced by our beliefs).
When you observe our society, you will see an art critic saying about a piece of art, “This is genius!” But when you look at it, it doesn’t make any sense to you, so your reaction is that it is bad art. Who’s right? You or the critic? It could be that both of you are right.
We all feel that our perception is the correct one. When is it not right? When it has a negative influence on our life.
Years ago, I found myself having my heart set on purchasing something that I had to have. I was experiencing angst because I couldn’t afford it. I decided to meditate to calm myself down and get centered. When I came out of my meditation, I saw that what I couldn’t live without, didn’t have any hold on me anymore. If I didn’t buy it, I wouldn’t stress.
What had happened was that when my perception had changed, the stress and angst were no longer present. So any negative situation can be simply by changing the way we look at it.
Experiment with this. Think of a situation. How many ways can you approach it? This is the beginning of awareness and of being creative with the way you observe things and then thinking outside the box.
Looking at a situation and making the right choice, will always keep you in your power. We all have the right to take care of ourselves and be happy.
